Description
KING Of MACAU – Racing With John Macdonald by Angus Lamont is really two books into one. Firstly, this is the definitive biography on the life of Asian racing legend John Macdonald. It is also an autobiography of its author, Angus Lamont. Angus’ relationship dates back to when John had made a name for himself racing in Hong Kong club events, at the Macau Grand Prix, and around the regional race tracks – in Singapore, Malaysia and the Philippines. The book’s 292 pages are packed with over 200 photographs and illustrations of regional racing, many of which have never been published before. And before you think this is just about John’s Macau exploits, the author has made a point of documenting the regional racing scene – races at Shah Alam in Selangor, in Penang, Ipoh, Johore, Singapore, Manila, Ancol outside Jakarta, the Australian races in 1975, and the vibrant MSCHK events in Hong Kong and the New Territories. John was also active in rallying and this is covered in the book as well as in the appendices. The six appendices make this a reference work that every enthusiast of motor racing history should have on their shelves. The six-page index is a good indication of how serious this book.
